Mount Uhud & the Martyrs of Uhud
Mount Uhud lies north of Masjid an-Nabawi. The Battle of Uhud was fought at its foot in 3 AH, and the martyrs, including the Prophet's ﷺ uncle Hamzah ibn Abd al-Muttalib, are buried in the cemetery here. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Uhud is a mountain that loves us and we love it" (Bukhari).
Facing the cemetery is Jabal al-Rumah, the Archers' Hill, and the large Sayyid al-Shuhada Mosque.
